Last night in an amazing display of talent, dexterity, coordination, endurance, agility, timing, flexibility, and nerves of steel, the ever incredible Yoz Linden, along with many other Second Life party extremists, danced the night away in perfect mixed reality at Club Republik. Music and DJ commentary from the very famous DNA Lounge in San Francisco, California was streamed in realtime to the attendees of Second Life’s Club Republik Bootie event. Not only that, but the addition of several very large projectors were set up inside the real life DNA Lounge. This allowed Second Life attendees to see their very own avatars dancing on the walls right alongside the RL clubgoers inside the DNA Lounge. Those feeds were then broadcast to a website where SL’ers (and anyone else who wished to) could see the final results. Smash-Up Derby even performed a live set as well. Quite an amazing show to say the least!
The party started at about 10PM SLT and finished at 3AM and from what it seemed, everyone had a fantastic time. There is rumor that this type of event may be happening again sometime in the future. It was a sensational event! This sort of blend between Rl events and Sl events has to be good for the people running both sides. Amazing way to get cross promotional activity going. I’m really curious about the DNA club and want to see that action for real and I wonder how many DNA clubbers might take the opportunity to attend Republik when they can’t make it to the RL place? And for the RL djs to get feedback from a SL crowd ( a lot of whom are great DJs themselves) pretty unique opportunity for them to show off to the world. Al credit to the people organising it in RL and particularly Keela in SL who was apparently in the club at the same time!

Yes, thanks to our technology I could truly be in two places at the same time! Being in the DNA lounge with my laptop while being in SL too and showing it on 3 big screens was great fun!
I’m so grateful to everyone in SL who came to Club Republik to dance to the mashup tunes, to the Club Republik owners for live streaming BootieSL, Epic for attending with all of their amazing AV’s and to Bootie DJ’s for being open to the crossover event idea!
